Writing, According to JJ McBride

JJ McBride is a writer from Philadelphia who returned to his birthplace in North Idaho a few years back. His day job is busting the myth that all Idahoans have potato patches in their front yards (they're in the BACK yards, thank you very much), but the vast majority of his time is spent thinking of new crap to write about.

Heavily encouraged by his mother to read everything in sight - and even nicknamed after an infamous, Shakespearean literary character (MacDuff) - Mr. McBride's novels are influenced by everything he's ever seen or read, and his novels are cornucopias of pop culture references and celebrity sightings.

JJ McBride spent his youth on playing fields of various sports - particularly, baseball - and spending time in the woods, like his grandfather. His world was turned upside down when a drunk driver changed the course of his life. As age has caught up with him, he's turned to writing and sharing his experiences, a pastime he had as a hobby since high school. His friend, Mouse, talked him into writing his first novel, A Tale of Two Gimps: Such is Life, the mostly true tale of the adventures of Mouse and JJ McBride, two friends with similar experiences who took dramatically different paths in life.

JJ McBride's sense of humor shines through his life and into his writing. Sometimes naughty, but always real and humorous, McBride's stories touch on many emotions, as all good writing should. Over the course of the last few years, he's completed the first four books in The Village of Butt series, and is currently at work on the fifth installment.

More than anything, McBride enjoys hearing from his readers about their reactions to his books, and you are hereby encouraged to contact him, whether by commenting on his Facebook page, tweeting at him, or sending him a message here.
