An extended hospital stay causes a dramatic change in lifestyle. All modesty and inhibitions must be left behind… there is no choice. Patients are poked and prodded by people whose job it is to inspect what once were their secret places. Their job would make most people throw up. A nurse's aid will look at an asshole as if it were a peach pit and carry piss around like a martini. Whatever their paycheck, it isn't enough.

Lying in spotless rooms on crisp clean linen, the patient usually has a roommate, if not several, and with only a curtain separating them, visiting hours can sometimes be embarrassing.

"Did you have a bowel movement today?” a nurse would ask.

“Have you had an erection yet?” asked another nurse.

After the questions were answered, the curtain was pulled back to reveal the smiles of the roommates' family.
